Patrik Norqvist

Where are you from?
I was born in Umeå and have lived here all my life.

How did you get interested in science?
I have always liked to solve tricky problems. During high school, I realized that the I liked physics problems the most.

What is your current work area?  What is some result, either by yourself or others, that you think is really cool?
I'm a space physicist. I look at measurements from satellites and try to understand what is happening in space, I have analyzed which processes cause oxygen to leave the earth and calculated how much oxygen is lost, among other things.

For fun: was there anything you were scared of as a little kid?
I was stung by a wasp in the head in 4th grade and it hurt a lot. After that I always ran away when I saw a wasp. And I'm still a little scared of them. As a child, I also thought snakes were unpleasant, but I am not afraid of them anymore.

What was your favorite amusement park ride?
As a child I was once at Gröna Lund. They had something called Lustiga Huset (the Funny House) which I thought was fantastically fun.
