This spring, we invite you to four selected Thursday evenings where popular science is combined with fascinating planetarium shows in Wisdome Umeå. Curiosum Space is aimed at a more adult audience and offers space experiences that open new perspectives on the universe and our place within it.
In the first Curiosum Space event of the spring, we turn our attention to the fundamental forces that have shaped the universe – from the Big Bang to today’s cosmic landscape. The evening begins with a lecture by Michael Bradley, Professor of Physics at Umeå University, followed by a planetarium show in Wisdome Umeå.
Admission is free. Visitors may also choose to pre-book a dinner wrap to make the visit a complete evening at Curiosum.
6 PM - Lecture in Wisdome Umeå: General Relativity, Black Holes and Gravitational Waves, Michael Bradley, Professor of Physics, Umeå University
7 PM - Planetarium show in Wisdome Umeå: Galaxies in the Universe – Join us on a breathtaking journey beyond our own galaxy, the Milky Way, that gives perspective on the structure, scale and evolution of the universe. How many galaxies have humans discovered – and how has our understanding of the universe changed over time?
You can pre-book a place for both the lecture and the planetarium show free of charge via the link below. Tickets must be collected no later than 15 minutes before the programme starts. Unclaimed tickets will be released for drop-in visitors.
We also offer optional pre-booking of a dinner wrap and a can of Ramlösa mineral water.
Price: SEK 120 (paid at the reception upon arrival)
Please note that food must be booked no later than Monday, 9 December at 4:00 pm to guarantee availability.

Michael Bradley is Professor of Physics at Umeå University. His research has primarily focused on problems in general relativity, such as models of rotating stars and the propagation of gravitational waves in cosmological models. In his lecture, Michael Bradley provides an introduction to gravity from the perspective of general relativity. He explores how extreme phenomena such as black holes and gravitational waves arise, and why the effects of curved spacetime also matter in practical applications, such as positioning systems like GPS.
A planetarium show is an immersive visual experience where space is projected all around you in our dome-shaped theatre, Wisdome Umeå. Here, you can journey into the universe through scientifically based visualisations and explore everything from planets and moons to stars, nebulae and exoplanets. Through large-scale projection and storytelling, the experience offers new perspectives on space and our place within it.
