On Saturday 4 October, Curiosum is celebrating Astronomy Day and Night! With this year’s theme “Space and Life on Earth”, we invite the whole family to a day full of stellar discoveries. Take part in exciting space experiments, create your own mini-universe in a jar, observe the Sun through our solar telescope and join us for breathtaking journeys through space – including a film premiere in Wisdome Umeå. And who knows – you might even get to meet our very own astronaut!

Curiosum is for curious people of all ages. Children wishing to visit Curiosum alone, without an adult, must be at least 13 years old.
Could the planets in our solar system float on water if there were an ocean big enough? And what’s the difference between rocky planets and gas giants? Try out different objects and compare the “floatability” of the planets in this hands-on density experiment. Will you manage to make your potato-Saturn float?

In this thrilling escape game, you are the crew of Apollo 13. The plan was to land on the Moon – but suddenly something goes wrong. Work together to solve the problems and bring your spaceship safely back to Earth before time runs out!
Can you fit space inside a jar? Well, almost! Using colours, textures and other materials, you’ll design a beautiful decoration to take home with you.
The activities in our labs and Makerspace are led by our guides and have limited spots. During peak visitor times, a ticket system will be used. Tickets can be collected outside each activity room 60 minutes before the activity starts.
In Wisdome Umeå, we’re offering both breathtaking planetarium shows and something brand new on our film schedule! In the exciting family show 3-2-1 Liftoff!, you’ll join Elon the hamster and his robot companion on a dizzying adventure as they attempt to travel into space.
